This is Maisie, our friends? dog, sadly no longer with us. I drew their current dog (Amie) as a gift for their 40th wedding anniversary present and they commissioned me to draw Maisie and provided the reference photo. We were fortunate to know Maisie - she was one of a kind, with a passion stealing slippers and the only dog I?ve seen reverse out of a room with a wood floor. They never knew each other but they now share the same wall. It?s drawing in coloured pencil on Grafix drafting fil

This hilltop farm was cut-off by deep snow drifts but accustomed to this the owner was out early with his snow plough. I loved the colours and perspective in this scene. The old buildings contrast with the modern farmhouse adding interest to the scene. This watercolour was painted on 140lb cold press paper using W&N and Daniel Smith tube paints.

This chap was painted at art class recently and represents a rare departure for me into the world of acrylics. I tried to capture something of the character of the Otter and keep the composition uncluttered. To this end I did several sketches and allowed my wife to exercise her now legendary good taste in selecting this one. Not sure if I will be using acrylic again since it destroyed my autumn wardrobe.

This image was hand drawn and oil painted on a 12x16 canvas sheet. It is in memory of a baby Squirrel that myself and my teenage daughter raised years ago. We called him Icarus.I was Veterinarian Technician at the time and my daughter actually grew up to be a Veterinarian. Such laughs we had with that baby Squirrel!
